CDSS FAQs

Will CDSS rules be a composition resource based on the templates we design?

CDSS rules represent an automated decision pathway while openEHR compositions represent clinical data of a person. CDSS rules typically take some inputs and provide one or more outputs based on the logic that we have implemented. They are not represented as compositions in EHR.Network.

CDSS rules can use data in the compositions as input and also provide inputs that can be added to composition nodes as data. For example while creating a Vitals composition, you use a CDSS rule to calculate the BMI from height and weight of a person. The input to the CDSS rule(height & weight) will come from the vitals composition, while the BMI value calculated by the CDSS rule can go in as BMI back into the composition.
